Bank issued gold and platinum credit cards are something to be considered for anyone looking to gain maximum benefits from their credit cards. All major Australian banks offer a range of gold and platinum credit cards in addition to smaller banks and financial institutions.

Your typical gold or platinum credit card will offer great deals, benefits, security and rewards for its cardholders but be wary, they have strict conditions attached to it is important to understand the fine print before signing up.

The standard gold credit cards, or platinum credit cards, are designed for credit cardholders who do not want to be held back by limits and want to benefit from the excellent array of bonus features. The ideal gold or platinum credit card holder would make repayments within the interest free period as gold and platinum credit cards will have limited ability of reducing debt and higher annual fees and rates.

All major Australian banks offer Gold and Platinum credit cards with benefits ranging from travel insurance, reward points, high limits, enhanced security and discounted services. There can be several different types of either gold or platinum credit cards from the one bank such as the National Australia Bank with its NAB Gold Credit Card, NAB Velocity Gold Credit Card, NAB Qantas Gold Credit Card and the NAB Qantas Platinum Credit Card.

The ANZ bank credit cards offers the ANZ Gold Card Credit Card, ANZ Frequent Flyer Visa Gold Credit Card and the ANZ Rewards Visa Gold Credit Card which contain the bank's Purchase Security Insurance.

The Commonwealth Bank credit cards offer the Commonwealth Bank Gold Credit Card and the Commonwealth Bank Platinum Credit Card.

Most of these cards from these different bank institutions offer up to 55 days as an interest-free period and a low interest rate to customers.
