When the National Australia Bank required an extreme makeover of its Miller Street office, it needed a contractor who could work to a tight deadline. ISIS Projects then stepped up to the plate, delivering an award-winning product to boot.

The brief was challenging: the bank needed its main equipment room ready for occupation two weeks into construction.

ISIS achieved this through careful planning, collaboration with equipment suppliers and sub-contractors and two weeks working around the clock.

The project involved stripping and fitting out eight levels of office space and another floor for the NAB Academy. The floors had to be delivered within the schedule in order for the bank to avoid costly lease penalties.

"Each floor took about eight weeks," says ISIS project manager Phillip Wicks.

"We staggered them, so that after the first eight weeks we delivered a floor every week. It was like organising a grand final every week for eight weeks."

Awards judge Bryan Sidgreaves says the contractor achieved an outstanding result within a tight timeframe.

"The quality of the work is exceptional, the finishes are first-class and the whole project was well-administered," he says.

ISIS won the same division prize in the $1million-$2million category for its fitout of the ABC's Triple J studio in Ultimo. This involved upgrading fully operational soundproofed studios and moving the entire music library, comprising about 25,000 CDs and 5000 vinyl records.

It wasn't just a matter of packing the collection into boxes, Wicks says. "It was a military operation. They still needed to access the collection so it had to be kept in order."

The fitout, which included building office space, breakouts, lounge areas and filming zones for Jtv was completed in 12 weeks - while the space was fully occupied.

"It was a quirky, cheeky design in keeping with the Triple J image," Sidgreaves says.
